Selectie eindjury Kunstacademie - End sellection Jury Art Academy

Het is zover. Na zes jaar kunstacademie werden alle werken nauwkeurig onder de loep genomen, gewikt, gewogen en besproken. Doel was om tot een kleine 'tentoonstelling' te komen in een poging om de eindjury te imponeren. Ik krijg in ieder geval een vol uur om dat te proberen.

Het academiejaar zit er bijna op. Door een paar tegenslagen is de oogst dit jaar niet zo groot, maar ik wil graag geloven dat ik toch best wel een paar goeie werkjes heb gemaakt. Dit is de laatste...

The academic year runs at an end. I had a couple of setbacks, but I'dd like to believe I still made some nice works. This is the last one...

Polly, the giant dodo (parrot) of Big Boss Headstompa - TGCM Creation Miniatures

Dit is een 54mm miniatuur van TGCM Creation, de Franse ontwerpers van het spel 'Briskars'. Ik vond de dodo prima passen als Big Boss Headstompa's (reuze)'papegaai' Polly.

This is a 54mm miniature from TGCM Creation, the French designers of the game 'Briskars'. I thought the dodo would do nicely as Big Boss Headstompa's 'giant pet parrot' Polly. :-)

Orc Pirate Big Boss Dorgarag Headstompa, da Skurge of da Seas (Black Scorpion Miniatures)

Dit is een apart model in de reeks 28 mm Ork Piraten van Black Scorpion. Deze sluit dan ook de volledige reeks af.

Nakayama Hayato, Iconic Samurai - Reaper Bones Miniatures

De eerste Bones van de Kickstarter (zie link) is geschilderd en, zoals bij elke Bones, een waar plezier om te doen. Hoewel, er waren soms toch wel wat moeilijkheden omdat het model gegoten is uit één stuk, waardoor sommige onderdelen moeilijk te bereiken waren. 

De basis is gemaakt uit een stukje polystyreen (isolatieplaat)

De Samurai is een cadeautje voor een maat die 'bezeten' is door Japanse cultuur :-)

The first Bones from the Kickstarter (see link) is painted and, as with all Bones, a real pleasure to do. However, sometimes there were some little problems because the miniature is cast in one piece and some parts were difficult to reach...

The base is sculpted from a piece of  styrofoam.

The Samurai is a gift to a friend who's 'obsessed' with Japanese culture :-)

Steven Wilson in bright colours

Op de academie kregen we een opdrachtje mee... doe iets in 'collagestijl'. Dit werd een uitstekende gelegenheid om de 'mixed media' te verkennen. 

Het werd een portret van (voor mij althans) een van de meest briljante geesten van de hedendaagse (prog)-rock: Steven Wilson... een combinatie van foto's en heldere, vibrante acryl.

The academy gave us a little assignment... do something in a 'collage' style. This was an excellent opportunity to explore the 'mixed media'.

The result is a portrait of (to me) one of the most brilliant minds of contemporary (prog)-rock: Steven Wilson... it's a combination of photo's and clear, vibrant acylics.
