The 'Bones' have arrived - Reaper Miniatures Bones II Kickstarter: The return of Mr Bones

In oktober 2013 hebben vrouwlief en ik meegedaan met het crowdfunding project 'Reaper Miniatures Bones II: The return of Mr Bones' van het Amerikaanse 'Kickstarter' De bedoeling van Reaper was om aan een startkapitaal van 30.000$ te komen (door financiering van fans), om een hele nieuwe lijn 'Bones' te ontwikkelen (zie link). In geen tijd was het bedrag gehaald en konden de fans verder bieden voor vele en zeer interessante extra's. Op Halloween klokte de teller af op maar liefst 3.169.610$... Het wachten begon...

Nu, na het vervaardigen, verpakken en wereldwijd versturen van bijna 15.000 bestellingen is ook ons pakket eindelijk toegekomen en het was het wachten méér dan waard. Hier een paar foto's van de 'heuglijke dag' :-) dat we ineens 240 miniaturen rijker waren...

In October 2013 my wife and I participated in the crowdfunding project 'Reaper Miniatures Bones II: The return of Mr Bones' from 'Kickstarter'. Reaper wanted to gather 30.000$ (of supporting fans) to start a whole new line of 'Bones (see link). The goal was reached in no time and the fans could invest further in many and very interesting extras. On Halloween the counter reached a whopping 3.169.610$ and the funding was over... The waiting began...

Now, after the manufacturing, pakking and shipping worldwide of almost 15.000 orders, our order also (finally) arrived... and it was worth the waiting. Here are a few pictures of the 'joyful day' :-) when our miniatures collection grew with 240 pieces...

Nurgle War Giant

Hier is de afgewerkte versie van de 'Mirliton' Giant (zie link 1) en de 'Citadel' Nurglings (zie link 2) . Samen met nog wat losse onderdelen van andere modellen is dit de 'Nurgle War Giant'.

This is the finished version of the 'Mirliton' Giant (see link 1) and the 'Citadel' Nurglings (see link 2). Together with some parts of other miniatures this is the 'Nurgle War Giant'.

Nu de reus geschilderd was, had ik vervangers nodig voor de ontbrekende goblins (zie link). Ik heb die gevonden in de 'Nurglings': kleine, grappige, maar ook walgelijk vieze wezentjes die thuishoren in de Warhammer 'Daemons of Chaos - Nurgle' lijn (Citadel Miniatures)

De doos bevat drie 'Nurgling piles' en verschillende losse miniatuurtjes. Ik heb twee piles gebruikt. Ondanks dat de figuurtjes heel klein zijn (gemiddeld 1cm), zijn ze verrassend vlot te schilderen.

Dit is het resultaat.

Now the giant has been painted, I needed replacemant for the missing goblins (see link). I found them in the 'Nurglins': small, funny, but also gross creatures belonging to the Warhammer 'Daemons of Chaos - Nurgle' line (Citadel Miniatures)

The box contains three 'Nurgling piles' and several spare minis. I used two piles. Despite the figurines are very small (approximately 1/2 inch) they are fairly easy to paint. This is the result.

'De onbekende reus' - An unidentified giant (?... miniatures)

Tijdens onze laatste 'Crisis' viel mijn oog op een bak met 'left overs', modellen die niet of nauwelijks nog verkocht geraakten. In een simpele, doorzichtige plastiek zak zat dit 12 cm grote model. Ik 'vond het wel iets hebben' en voor 5€ mocht ik het meenemen.

Het model werd meer dan een jaar vergeten, toen ik het bij toeval weer in handen kreeg. Ik besloot om het een kans te geven...

Na het nodige kuiswerk (het model is in hars) en ettelijke uren schilderwerk ben ik best wel tevreden met het resultaat. Beste 5€ ooit aan een miniatuur besteed ;-)

Ik heb het internet afgeschuimd op zoek naar de identiteit van het miniatuur en vond dat het een 'recast' is door Mirliton Miniatures van de oeroude, metalen 'Goblin War Giant', van het inmiddels al lang ter ziele gegaan Grenadier... maar in mijn geval zonder de goblins en nog een paar kleine stukken.

Ik besloot er mijn eigen 'War Giant' van te maken...

During our last 'Crisis', my attention was drawn  by a box with 'left overs'. In a simple plastic bag I found this 12cm (4,5 inch) high model and could take it home for 5€.

The model was 'lost' for more than a year when I accidentally found it again. I decided to give it a chance.

After te necessary trimming (it's a resin model) and a lot of hours of painting, I'm quite happy with the result. Best 5€ ever spent on a miniature :-)

I have searched the internet for the identity of the model and found it's a 'recast' by Mirliton Miniatures of the ancient, metal 'Goblin War Giant' by Grenadier... but I missed the goblins and a few little pieces.

I decided to make my own 'War Giant'...
